Dr. Rubén Vidal Soto
Dr. Vidal is head of the Laboratory of Genomics, Molecular Ecology and Evolutionary Studies and full professor of the Department of Biology of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology. He obtained his degree (B.S) in Marine Biology from the Universidad Católica del Norte and his Doctorate in Biology -with a mention in Molecular Biology- from the Universidad Santiago de Compostela (grade, Summa Cum Laude). Dr. Vidal is a member of editorial boards and program committees of international journals and conferences with several invited and peer-reviewed publications.
Our studies integrate molecular analysis of genes and genomes, bioinformatics, biochemistry, ecology, and phylogenomics to understand the evolution and functional importance of gene expression. Likewise, genomic annotation, the development of molecular markers and epigenomics are a great experience in the laboratory. Including, the use of high throughput DNA/RNA resequencing and alternative strategies to identify mutations in immunological candidate genes involved in a variety of viral and bacterial pathologies. Our facilities at the Department of Biology at the Universidad de Santiago include state-of-the-art, high-throughput molecular genomics, proteomics, and bioinformatics. We have obtained multiple scholarships from national and international founders. Please visit https://molgenv.com/ for more details about us.
